How Tendy Protects Your Data

Unlike most payment apps, Tendy is private by default. When you send or request money, your personal information—including your name, phone number, and email address—is never shared. If the recipient chooses to receive their payment through a different app, it will come from "Tendy" rather than your personal name. With Tendy, you can pay anyone with confidence, whether you know them personally or not. Below is more information about how Tendy does and does not use your information.

1. Our Payment Processor

Tendy uses Stripe, Inc. to process all financial transactions on our platform. When you add a payment method, initiate a transfer, or receive funds through Tendy, that activity is facilitated by Stripe's infrastructure. By using Tendy, you also agree to be bound by Stripe's Terms of Service and acknowledge that your financial data is handled in accordance with Stripe's Privacy Policy.

2. What Financial Information Is Collected

When you connect a payment method or complete a transaction through Tendy, Stripe may collect the following on our behalf:

  • Bank account details (routing and account numbers)
  • Debit or credit card information (card number, expiration date, CVV)
  • Billing address
  • Transaction amounts, timestamps, and history
  • Identity information for verification purposes (see Section 5)

Tendy does not store your raw card or bank account numbers on our own servers. This sensitive payment data is transmitted directly to and secured by Stripe.

3. How Your Data Is Used

Stripe uses your transaction and financial data to:

  • Authorize and process payments and transfers
  • Detect and prevent fraud
  • Comply with anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations
  • Handle disputes and chargebacks
  • Meet tax reporting and other legal obligations

We may also receive transaction data from Stripe in connection with your activity on Tendy — for example, to display your payment history, resolve support issues, or enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Security Standards

Stripe is certified as a PCI DSS Level 1 service provider, which is the highest level of certification available under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Your payment method data is secured using industry-standard encryption during transmission and storage.

Stripe also employs tokenization, which replaces your sensitive payment details with a unique token. This means your raw financial data is never exposed during routine payment processing.

5. Identity Verification

To comply with applicable financial regulations, Tendy may require identity verification before you can send or receive payments above certain thresholds. This process is facilitated by Stripe and may involve:

  • Submission of a government-issued ID
  • Collection of your Social Security Number (last four digits or full, depending on verification level)
  • Comparison of submitted documents against your account information

This information is used solely for compliance and fraud prevention purposes.
